A round of applause for the Q-Kidz Dance Team! The squad that has danced its way into the hearts of people in our area has taken to a much bigger stage. Members of the Q-Kidz Dance Team performed in independent film.
The Fits, and now the movie is part of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. 65 films were selected for the U.S. Competition, World Competition and out-of-competition NEXT categories by the Sundance Institute. Some of the films that have premiered in these sections include Precious, Fruitvale Station, Blackfish and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

The Fits is a psychological portrait about Toni, an 11 year old tomboy, integrating into a tight-knit dance team in Cincinnati's West End. The Fits is part of the NEXT category which features pure, bold works distinguished by an innovative, forward-thinking approach to storytelling. Films in this section are thought to shape a "greater" next wave in American cinema.
Directed by Anna Rose Holmer, the cast includes Q-Kidz members and CMHA residents Royalty Hightower, Alexis Neblett, Da'Sean Minor, Lauren Gibson, Makyla Burnam and Inayah Rodgers. Leaders of the Q-Kidz Dance Team also played a role in the film. Marquicia Jones-Woods served as an advisor and Associate Producer and the film featured choreography by Mariah and Chariah Jones. The North American Premier of The Fits takes place in Utah January 21-31 at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
