Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority and Sherwin-Williams will continue to paint a path to success for the underemployed and unemployed served by CMHA. Sherwin-Williams recently confirmed that the company will extend the HomeWork Painter Training Program for CMHA and Section 3 residents, investing more than $105,000 into the project for 2016.
As a partner, CMHA provides the site and participants for the five days of training while Sherwin-Williams provides the curriculum, supplies and paint. Participants receive the tools and certificates needed to become a part of the hirable skilled work force. In addition, each trainee who passes a special test receives their EPA Lead Safety Certification at their graduation. A Sherwin-Williams instructor conducted classes at Park Eden and Pinecrest with 32 CMHA residents and two Section-3 residents. The HomeWork Painter Training program achieved a 70% employment rate for local graduates compared to the 65% national placement average.
